A Shopify review
Welcome back everyone, today we will continue with a Shopify review if you miss part one( link here) of this post you might want to take a moment to read it before moving on. If you have already read the first post I will give you a brief recap here in a moment.
Right now let me give you a rundown of what I will be going over today. I will start with a recap then I will then go over some of the things I experienced with Shopify Such as AdWords advertisement.
The insights that they offer through there blog posts and Q/A support. I will also be going over how to sell your store if you no longer want to run your store and I will close with the cons of Shopify and final thoughts.
Now that you have a layout of what is come how about we jump right in with a recap of the last post.
Recap
In my last post, I explained how I decide at a certain point in this journey of mine to open a store.
I have since moved on to other things but I gain insight and knowledge in my time with Shopify. In the last post, I went over what Shopify is, how I came across Shopify and how when you join you will get a free domain with your website.
I then covered how Shopify works and how I felt with my own retail store. I told a story about a poor experience that I had with Shopify and I also covered how plugins play a large role in making your store run.
Hopefully, that will remind you of what I went over last week and has prepared you for this weeks post.
If you would like to read more details of part 1 Click here. Now in that thought, that moves on with How I got a coupon for AdWords.
I got a coupon for AdWords.
When you are first starting out one of the hardest and most costly things with any business is advertising.
I have to admit when I first started this retail store I had no idea how hard it would be to make advertising work for me and I really had no clue that advertising would require the level of money that everyone would start teaching me it would take.
I would research all the time for affordable ways to advertise. I then figured out that Shopify offers a $100 coupon for AdWords.
All you have to do is sign up for an AdWords account. I will be covering AdWords in my next post if you would like to learn more about AdWords please come back next week.
For now, let me go onto say that this coupon would open the door to advertising for me. I also had the chance to learn about AdWords and how it worked.
I then went on to add my store to social media sites like Facebook through feeds that would be offered through plugins and that opened the door to my advertising on Facebook.
before I knew it, I was learning all kinds of things about the advertising business and it all started with a coupon for AdWords.
This is one of the best things that they can offer you at Shopify, in my opinion, it is one of the most beneficial things to help out anyone with their store. Something else that they offer regularly and freely is advice and insights.
Blog posts and Insights
If you sign up for their emails you will get posts regularly that will open the door to a vast amount of knowledge.
They will help you with step by step advice on how to set up your store, they will also give you advice on how and even where you can advertise your store, products or brand.
These posts, Q/A content and even books that they offer are extremely helpful for a newbie to get started and find success. Again another great feature that Shopify has to offer.
one of the features that they offer that makes them stand apart from their competition is a way to buy or sell stores.
Selling your store.
I thought it was a creative feature to have a way for customers and store owners to buy existing stores or put your own store up for sale to recoup any losses you might have had.
one thing to remember is when you are selling your store you will still have to pay your monthly membership until it is sold or until you close your account with Shopify.
This process is mostly handled through emails between the two parties unless you both agree on a different way of corresponding.
As I said it is a creative way of helping people to recoup any losses as well offer other people the chance to take your brand and put there own spin to it and see if they will not have better success then you had.
So now that I have gone over all the pros of Shopify that now goes over some of the cons.
The cons
What are some of the cons.?
- They are not very good with customer service in my opinion.
You have a 50-50 chance of getting someone to respond via messenger and 30% chance that you will get helpful service via telephone.
- They are always taking out fee and charges for one thing or another. I am not sure that they are all real things you should be charged for.
- As I stated in my last post they do not make it clear what you can or can not sell through their services. Even when they provide you with the sellers.
- They have had many complaints when it comes to refunds so be cautious with your funds, it might be a better choice to pay monthly rather than paying for the yearly subscription.
When looking at the bigger picture I can honestly say there are not many cons to Shopify’s platform or what they offer you.
Final thoughts
So here we are again at final thoughts. As a whole Shopify lives to their reputation of being the best. From the website with free domain, being reasonably priced to the 1000’s of plugins that they offer, the regularly sent outposts or the help and support that they offer.
you see that they have a great value for your hard earned money. If you would like to give them a try just click here Shopify.
I hope that you gained something from this post. If you enjoyed this post please like and share this with others.
