Welcome back everyone,
today I thought I would talk on a subject that I myself have struggled with. I thought my personal experience might help out all of you newbies. That topic is how to build a following when you are not an expert.
Almost everyone who you listen to these days that talks on the subject of starting a business will tell you that you will get a following and better conversions if you are an expert in whatever you are selling. Now does it help to be an expert, heck yes it does but when you are new to the game it is really hard to be an expert at anything or maybe you are an expert when it comes to your niche but not in how to sell it.
Whatever the case,
how could you possibly build a following when you cannot come off like an expert? That is what we will be discussing today.
There are ways to build a following one of the best ways I know of is to use social media as anyone well knows there are a lot of ways to use social media and if you do not know much about social media then feel free to read of one of these posts.
Now if you use social media to your advantage you can build a following and never stop building. So how can you build that following? Let’s start with
- Facebook: when it comes to Facebook there are all kinds of way to advertise but really only one or two ways to build an audience.
1.advertise: join groups or paid ads
2. Add friends: add your own friends and family or start requesting people who are in the same niche as you or looking for what you are selling and request to add them as a friend.
- Google +: you can do many of the same things but you have to be a bit more careful about how you advertise with Google.
- Advertise:( you do not need to use paid ads on google plus simply because to do paid ads on google you would use ad words instead.) Something to keep in mind when it comes to advertising outside your own feed you have to be really careful with what groups you join since some of the group owners can be really uptight about what you put on the feed and you also need to make sure that your ads do not look like spam if they do you will not only have your advertisement or post removed you could possibly get your self-banned from the group. With enough warnings, you could possibly get locked out of your account.
- You can invite friends or people you know to follow you or you could find people to follow and maybe they may return the favor.
- Pinterest Pins: this is one of the most funs ways to advertise. You can find your audience one of two ways with this social site. You can make eye-catching pins or you can follow people and hope they will follow you back. Be sure that when you are following people that you are only following those people who are interested or relevant to what you are selling.
Note:
that when it comes to social media one of the best ways to build a following is to follow people, network or talk to people or put out really good content to draw people to you. Of course, you can also use paid ad to draw people to your business and then just make sure you follow up with interested parties.
So what are some other ways that you could build that following? How about.
Business cards:
Yes, I said business cards. A business card is a great tool to network with and to draw interested people to you for further engagement. You can get about a 100 cards made up for anywhere from 40 to 100 dollars depending on where you purchase them and what kind of card you have ordered.
This may seem expensive but it will be a great way to network and it allows the potential customer to have a physical reminder of the topic you and they discussed or maybe they will give the card to another interested party. You could also use banners, car magnets, or poster signs to advertise your business and draw people to you that you can then follow up with.
Another idea is flyers:
With flyers in the right locations, you can again draw interested parties to you that you can then follow up and network with. The trick to flyers is they have to be in the right location to draw the right kind of people. For example, if you are in the beauty niche you would want your flyers up in all of you local salons or nails shops if you are selling pet products then you would want your flyers up in pet shops or your local kennel.
You don’t just want to put your flyers anywhere if you do you will just be wasting resources and energy with little to show for your effort.
No matter what
you decide to do to build your following you now have some sure-fire ways to get that ball rolling.
I understand how hard it can be to find that right audience but remember you can do it with a little creativity and hard work. The truth is you do not need to get be an expert to get that ball rolling. Don’t forget even the most known experts didn’t start off that way and neither will you.
We all learn as we go and improve as we grow, so try some of these methods and see what they can do for you.
